After an exhilarating weekend of soaking in the rhythms of Dead & Company at The Sphere in Las Vegas…
…I'm still marveling at the transformative power of technology that added a whole new dimension to the concert experience. Being a long-time concert-goer and tech enthusiast, I was thrilled to see where this journey would take me. It didn't take long to realize that the immersive display of lights, graphics, and stunning artwork was a playground for the imagination.
The Sphere itself was a sight to behold - a 30-story high structure that encapsulates 160,000 square feet of display plane inside and a staggering 580,000 square feet of display outside. But what truly amazed me was how all the different pieces of technology came together in such a short time to create something so monumental.

The show progressed with little nods to Grateful Dead history like showing venues that were instrumental in the success of the band. The revolutionary "Wall of Sound", a testament to the band's innovative spirit, was showcased in all its glory. This technological marvel not only propelled the band in the 70's, but also spurred the entire music industry towards progress.
The playfulness, the “insider jokes”including legendary show venues, and the memories recalled, tapped into a part of the brain that had been long forgotten. That connection to the band was like a whole new dimension to my head. Such incredible moments truly highlight the transformative power of the mind. Pretty cool stuff.

Just like a great Dead show, the audience becomes an integral part of the performance. In a particular visual segment, they showcased ticket stubs, backstage passes, and envelopes (the traditional method for pre-sale selection). It felt like a nostalgic journey with the band we grew up with.
YOU are part of the Future
Marveling at the spectacle unfolding before me, I was struck by the sheer beauty of the artistry, the enchanting dance of colors enveloping the space, morphing into intricate patterns. I couldn't help but ponder the swift mastery of technology that crafted this magic in under a year. A heartfelt salute to The Sphere and the seamless fusion of its screens, setting the stage for the creation of such visually stunning art. Who were these technological wizards collaborating with the Dead, turning the impossible into reality within such a tight time frame?
Observing the seamless flow of one magical sequence into the next, it dawned on me that it was the boundless imagination of the band and the tech wizards that made this technological marvel possible. In this fast-paced tech world, the mind-bending visuals were really a testament to the limitless potential of human imagination, brought to life by the speed of AI technology.
This situation stirred my curiosity. What thoughts guided their actions? What inspired them? Did they aim to capture the rich history of the Grateful Dead through their visuals? Were they challenged with animating the entire scene, immortalizing a skeleton riding a bike, reminiscent of Uncle Sam, so vividly that it appeared to come alive off the screen?
This pondering led me to consider: What other innovative creations can we achieve across all aspects of life by harnessing AI to foster beauty and progress for humanity? With technology making artistry more accessible, it appears that our potential is only constrained by our individual accountability and creativity.
Many may view new technology with fear, but as a seasoned technologist, I see it as a chance for significant impact. Technology opens up vast possibilities, which should not be feared. It is YOU...it is US; we are the people to make a difference and create the future.
As leaders, we have the chance to capitalize on this opportunity by looking to how we can improve the lives of those around us, in whatever small worlds we are oriented. By tapping into our human skills and cognitive exchange of energy with those around us, we too can create beauty in our own lives. Whether it is to improve health care decisions, to speed up research, to look beyond reports for productivity inefficiencies, or to create more partnerships with other organizations/departments, it is on OUR shoulders to ask the questions...and be amazed by the answers!
The Relevancy of The Dead Show in Today’s Business World
As we embrace the change that is in front of us, and change is already happening, we have the opportunity to put ourselves in the position to “ride the wave” rather than pretend it doesn’t exist. The time for “waiting to see what happens” is a thing of the past. The technology is so good that we need businesses, leaders, organizations, and philosophers to begin thinking about improvements they’d like to see made to enhance life.
A way to start today is to learn your own human operating system (Human OS) patterns. How are you impacting the people around you? What patterns of energy exchange are present in your daily culture that are causing heartache? What can you do more of to create more joy? How do you have the ability to impact the patterns between people (it’s happening anyway)?
By understanding our own Human OS patterns, we can start making positive changes in our lives and the world around us. It's essential to reflect on how we interact with others and the impact we have on their lives. Identifying patterns that may be causing distress and finding ways to improve them can lead to a more harmonious exchange of energy between individuals. Embracing change and actively seeking ways to enhance our human experience is the key to creating a better future for all.
Just as a Dead & Company concert creates its own unique, vibrant world, we all have the power to infuse our own environments with renewed energy and purpose...to make our own worlds a better experience for ourselves and our teams.
We're living in an era where understanding the nuts and bolts of technology isn't as crucial as embracing a transformative mindset. It's this shift in thinking that can set us free, breaking down barriers that have stifled our progress for too long.
Looking at your own tool set, the Human OS, we can shift our perspectives and harness the power of technology. The Human OS is the basis for much of the way the technology is structured today. So understanding how your own patterns run, will give you insight into how the technology operates.
